Before You Start
Make sure:
Your mobile app is published and customers have installed it.
Customers have granted notification permissions on their devices.
Your app is updated to a version that supports push notifications.
You have the message, link, and target audience you want to use.
Send a Push Notification
1. Open Engage
From your store admin, go to:
Sales channels → Apploy → Engage
Under Notifications, select Send one-time.
2. Enter the Notification Title
Enter a short, attention-grabbing title.
The title can contain up to 50 characters.
Example:
Hey! Get our exclusive merch at 30% off now
Keep the title concise because customers may see only part of it depending on their device.
3. Enter the Message
Enter the main content of your notification.
The message can contain up to 140 characters.
Example:
Use code APP30 to get your discount, or tap on the notification to apply it in your cart.
Use the message to clearly explain the offer or action you want the customer to take.
4. Choose the Notification Link
Use Notification Link to determine where customers go when they tap the notification.
Select Open URL if you want to send customers to a specific page in your store.
Enter the destination URL in the Open URL field.
For example:
https://store.com/cart
You can use a product page, collection page, cart, promotional landing page, or any other appropriate store URL.
5. Add a Discount Code
The Discount Code field is optional.
If you are promoting a discount, enter the code you want to include with the notification.
Example:
APP30
The discount code can be used together with your notification message and destination URL.
Note: An app update released after July 15 is required for this functionality.
6. Select the Customer Segment
Use Customer Segment to choose who should receive the notification.
The default option is All Users, which sends the notification to all reachable customers.
You can also select a specific customer segment when you want to target a particular audience.
The number shown as reachable indicates the approximate number of customers who can currently receive the notification. This number can change because customer eligibility is re-evaluated when the notification is sent.
7. Add an Image (Optional)
You can optionally add an image to your notification.
Upload a PNG image up to 1 MB.
For best results, use a 2:1 aspect ratio, such as:
1200 × 600 px
Use an image when it helps communicate the promotion or makes the notification more visually engaging.
8. Send the Notification
Before sending, review the notification preview on the right side of the screen.
If everything looks correct, select Send Now.
The notification will be sent to the selected customer segment.
Schedule a Notification
If you don't want to send the notification immediately:
Complete the notification fields as described above.
Select Schedule for later.
Choose the date.
Choose the time.
Review the shop timezone displayed below the scheduler.
Select Schedule.
The notification will be sent at the selected date and time according to your shop's timezone.
Example
If your shop timezone is UTC+05:30 and you schedule a notification for:
August 28, 2026 at 10:00 AM
the notification will be sent according to that shop timezone.
Send a Test Notification
Before sending a campaign to customers, you can test it on a device.
Select Send test notification to a device and follow the available device selection or testing flow.
Testing is recommended when:
You are using a new notification format.
You have added a new notification URL.
You are using a discount code.
You have added an image.
You are sending a notification for the first time.
View Previous Notifications
To review notifications that have already been sent, go to:
Engage → Notifications → History
History lets you review past notifications and keep track of previous customer communications.
Target Customers with Segments
For more targeted campaigns, create or use customer segments under:
Engage → Segments
Segments allow you to send relevant notifications to specific groups instead of sending every message to all customers.
For example, you could target:
Recent customers
Customers who have not purchased recently
Customers who purchased a particular product
Customers eligible for a specific promotion
Automated Customer Engagement
For recurring or behavior-based communication, use Journeys under the Automated section.
Journeys allow you to automate customer engagement instead of manually sending individual notifications.
Use Send one-time for a single campaign, Scheduled notifications for planned campaigns, and Journeys for automated customer engagement.
Best Practices
Keep notifications short
Customers should understand the purpose of the notification immediately.
Good:
🎉 30% off today only. Use APP30 and shop now.
Avoid:
We have an exciting offer that we would like to tell you about today...
Give customers a clear reason to tap
Use the notification to communicate a benefit, offer, update, or important action.
Link to the most relevant page
Don't always send customers to the homepage. If the notification promotes a product or offer, take customers directly to the relevant page.
Use urgency carefully
Time-sensitive messages can improve engagement, but avoid creating unnecessary urgency.
Examples:
Sale ends tonight
Your order is ready
New products just arrived
Free delivery this weekend
Target the right audience
Use customer segments when a message is relevant only to certain customers. More relevant notifications generally provide a better customer experience than sending every campaign to everyone.
Test before important campaigns
Always test the notification link, discount code, message, and appearance before sending a large campaign.
